One brings you 2 filthy, durty hours with Daegal Brain!
Continuing with our showcase series which invites the people we think are a little special down to show off their stuff for 2 hours, we have a couple of hours of filth with a durty trance master, Daegal Brain, but that comes later…
Kicking things off downstairs we have Chemical Reaction’s Sascha making his debut appearance for One. After hearing his infamous opening sets at Belushi’s we just had to have him down.
Then we’re pleased to welcome back the fantastic Red5. Fast becoming a household name with a distinctive style of funky, driving trance we’re excited to hear some his chunky beats in his first appearance in a second slot for us.
Warming things up further is the mighty Markus Buhmann. When we asked Daegal who he’d like to warm up for him, without hesitation his response was Markus. Expect a well paced progressive trance set from him.
And then comes the main event, Daegal’s two hour showcase! Over the past few years Daegal has propelled himself from unknown DJ to trance superstar with residencies at Twisted, Tilt and appearances at Knowhere, Heat and Logic as well sets all over the country and internationally, including “set of the year” on the terrace at Space in Ibiza. You could say the guy’s ok! With his recent move into the filthier side of trance, expect some pretty durty, filthy, driving sounds.
Then the One residents, K.A.R.L. and Conrad close the night in the way only they can. Karl with his driving, euphoric tough trance and Conrad with his slightly tougher hard trance with more of a UK feel. Expect to leave the Southside with a smile on your face.
Upstairs we’ve got something a little bit special.
After the success of having Kurruption down to host the funky bar, we’re thrilled about the launch of One Up, hosted by none other than 2 Phunked Up!
We’re huge fans of these guys as DJs and Promoters, with their fantastic party, Comfortably Numb and their amazing mixing ability and tune selection. There’s not many people in London that can play tough, funky house like these guys do.
Starting the progression through funk is One resident, Charlie Veron. Starting with some chilled, laid back house it’s the perfect way to warm up for your weekend.
Next steps up 2 Phunked Up themselves. These guys are beginning to get the recognition they so deserve so make sure you’re there to catch them in an intimate setting before they get too huge!
Following them is Becomeone’s OpaqueJake. A welcome return to the Southside Bar will see Jake spinning some proper uplifting house, leading things nicely onto the next One resident, Anthony Sergeant. Most people know Anthony through Mad records although with a pair of record labels as well as Djing and performing live sets, he’s a multi-talented man who’ll be treating us all to a funky, electro based house set, with a smattering of techno.
Then it’s Chris Rayners turn. Speaking with Chris recently he expressed a desire for playing the tougher, dirtier end of the house spectrum. As ever, 2 Phunked Up were one step ahead and had already booked him for this later slot, giving him the perfect chance to play just that.
And to close the night, Comfortably Numb’s regord. If he’s good enough to play for Comfortably Numb then he’s good enough to play for us! And being 2 Phunked Up’s first choice to close the night, he must be good. We haven’t heard him play, but we know we won’t be disappointed, and neither will you.
In true 2 Phunked Up style, they’ve pulled out all the stops for this night. They’ve selected all the DJs themselves and placed them in the line-up to make sure there’s the perfect musical progression.
One of the biggest problems we’ve had with the funky bar is the sound. To rectify this, 2 Phunked Up will be bringing an entire sound rig for the room which should make sure that there’s enough punch and clarity in the system to keep you up all night.
All this is on top of the free CD's and free shots, 2 for 1 cocktails before 7pm, two bottles of Stella or Star, or a double vodka and red bull for only £3 all night!
