Label: Endeavour
Format: 12" Vinyl
Genre: Trance

Side A: Marcos presents Sunfire Remix
Side B: Original Mix

This release sees the two Sundissential residents and midlands hard dance legends team up to unleash a great record on a somewhat hit and miss label.

The A side features a blisteringly uplifiting mix from current rising star Marcos (if you've not heard 'Beat Junkie' then shame on you!). The mix has all the now familiar traits from one of their productions: tough percussion, slamming kicks, a powerful driving bassline, nice pads, big melodies and a huge arpegiated lead line. Overall the mix has bags of energy, everything happens exactly where it should, and the production quality is as high a level as you would expect. This is definitely going to be a big tune for me!

On the flip side, the Original Mix feels a few BPMs faster and is a slightly more basic production. Not that this detracts from the mix at all, in fact it is far more in keeping from what you would expect a Sundissential release to be. The lads use more of a female vocal sample, not to the point of overdoing it tho, plus some film dialogue, but the overall impression you get is that the mix is more housey than it is trancey. The tough kick and percussion are still there, an off-beat bassline, but the synth sounds seem to be a bit weedier than on the Marcos mix.

Definitely one of the better releases on Endeavour, worth getting for the Marcos mix alone even if the Original won't be setting the world on fire!
