No it's towards Cheam past the North nearly every pub in this area, and they're full of the same people and the same shitty managing. And lack of funds behind me prevents me from going out further into london, which hopefully I can later this year Smile

What about New Malden, Wimbledon or even Kingston? From what you've said, you really shouldn't hang around there - it's a carcrash waiting to happen. Bars need sober managers/landlords for precisely the reasons you've highlighted. If that's not going to change, get out of there even if it'll be less convenient.

Now that's better Smile
That's cool that you have found somewhere you like to work Smile
Getting over challenges is always good at the end of it all Big grin

it took me ages to find something that i liked, before this job i'd had five jobs in three years and i'd hated them all. its worth leaving if you are unhappy, there will be something out there that you enjoy its just a question of finding it!

My bf did office temping, it's not enough hours for me, or regular and reliable enough, plus my experience and preference does lie in clubs and I'm trying to get experience from pubs (clubs near here are shitty chav-holes) for managing experience (well I've certainly learned how not to do it!)
Anyways, surely someone wants to rant about their job too? Big grin

The temping I've done or my friends have done has always been 35+hours per week with the option of overtiem. How many do you want!? My flatmate temps in a call centre on £10 an hour. There's some bloody good temping jobs out there. We had one in our department and I was shocked to find out that she was on more then me when I have a permanent contract!

Right then, about my job!

Love: That it's music industry, that the people are laid back and you can wear what the hell you like. That the office looks cool and has album artwork and TVs playing MTV everywhere. That we get free CDs and gig tickets and the odd celeb pops by once in a while.
Hate: That it's very busy and hard work for not a lot of money and that it often stresses me out to the point where I can't sleep at night. That I work for a major.

Something's value is what someone is willing to pay for it.
With 6 billion people in the world there's always someone dumb enough to pay too much.

Just a typo I meant to write "I've worked nearly every pub in this area..."

It costs money to travel to those places dude, money I really don't have to waste on buses and what not, I'll put up with it, I have done for so long already, whats another few more months eh?

And at the end of the day, I can reassure myself of hope, knowing the fact, that each and every drink I serve them is building up to their demise. I take solace in knowing that Smile

In my case, self-absorption is completely justified. I have never discovered any other subject quite so worthy of my attention.

If you want to stay working in bars, and want to move closer to London, try getting a live in job for a while. There's lots of bar jobs on www.gumtree.com/london[url]. Maybe you shoud avoid those nasty late nite drinking dens which tend to attract groups of idiots and have shite music.

If you don't want to work in a bar anymore, try signing up with a temp agency. Reception work (minimum computer skills) pays about £8 an hour, and its great work to do if you want to look for a better job. I learn how to type and use a lot of computer programmes doing this and then got better paid work.

Good luck Smile

to be honest I'm looking for about 40 hrs a week, Maybe I will look into it, but like I said, i would prefer to be in a pub getting experience points just for the future, and yeah theres shit to put up with, but it just pisses me off that it can all be so easily avoided.

A Major? as in army like? Wink

Fair enough. No pressure - just sounds like you'd be better off out of your current situation....

Good luck!

Cheers Smile I do know of gumtree, I don't want a live-in job, because if the pub got sold (which a lot are at the moment) I would have no home.
"Maybe you should avoid those nasty late nite drinking dens which tend to attract groups of idiots and have shite music." - so avoid the whole business altogether then? Wink

The stuff I did with PC's don't really require my job and the future for it is running short i beleive; why would anyone pay a website designer to do it for them at £50 an hour or whatever, when they can pay £30 and get a webby kit from tesco's eh?
