i haven't had a filling for ages, but now when the dentist says its all cool you have no work to be done, i have to go and see the hygienist who then does the sharp intake of breath and wants to do sub-planar cleaning [or something] which costs a bomb and HURTS.

last time i just ran away before the hygienist could get her paws on me.

Yup. I always listen to my dentist. He's the one who is trained, not me.

Only once I didn't get the filling. That resulted in me needing a triple root canal a year later, then getting a cyst in my jaw and losing the tooth 5 years later.

You may not think you need the filling but cavities don't just go away. Get a second opinion if you're not sure, but don't just ignore it.

yes but where one dentist says you need 4 fillings another will say you only need 1. if i see different dentists they tell me different things everytime! if i were you i would stick with the dentist you trust for sure.

oh no only 2 weeks left until exams. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I look after my teeth really well but whenever I go they always say I need a filling Mad. I think they are after my money but if I’m wrong I’ll be screwed so I always get them done.

Last time I had one my cunting dentist didn’t do the injection properly and I could feel the pain, I didn’t say anything because it was only going to be a few minutes but my god it hurt.

Yet another tarded thread from someone who thinks that HF gives better medical advice without examining them.

There have been a few cases of dentists carrying out unnecessary work ck.

There's nothing wrong with you that reincarnation won't cure.

Thats the thing I dont trust this one, she nearly put the needle in the wrong part of my mouth last week and I stopped her just in time and I have gone from having none in 23 years to needing 4 in 6 months.

But then if I wait til I go home it will cost more and I will be flying to Ibiza for 4 months a couple days after so if anything goes wrong after I will be stuck.

Still cant decide! Laughs out loud Confused

Thanks everyone for your advice/stories so far.

Just make sure that the injection has taken properly before he starts drilling. It really really hurts if it hasn't when he does.

I don't trust many dentists and I trust no NHS dentist.
They never used to charge enough to do a good job.

Now they're all going semi-private they are charging private rates for NHS piss-poor standard work.

I literally walked out the treatment room when a (NHS) dentist advised they were using mercury amalgam in my teeth. She even tried to argue it was superior. Bullshit, there are superior mercury-free amalgams. I had even taken my own gold along which she wouldn't accept and said if I wanted gold I'd have to buy theirs. !
I'm sure they also removed a gold filling and never returned the gold to me. Fucking pikeys

My dentist in Ispwish is excellent. Dr Max Burnet. I can't remember the name of his site 'laser dentistry' or something.
He uses minimally destructive techniques like air abrasion instead of a drill.
He uses filmless X-ray so you can get work done in one visit and see it's x-rays of your mouth.
Don't normally need an injection
He has a real time camera which he will use to show you what he is doing.

There's always Hungary. Lot of excellent dentists there that will charge a fraction of the price here.

my brothers mate went for treatment in Hungary , as he works for BA he got cheap flights , work done at a fraction of the price , plus a few other colleagues went with him them and they included a few days of sightseeing and stuff Thumbs up he was impressed with the work done as well.

Peace, maaan! carving a tunnel of hope through the mountain of despair Smile
