I think it's because he's not really knowledgable enough to follow though - after all, he's just a well read comedian and not an expert on many of the huge issues he talks about - so I wouldn't expect him too. And you could say that most minsters don't know much about what they talk about either.
Does the Health Minister or The Transport minister really know about health or transport after only a few months in the job before getting swapped around.?
Brand's real talent (motivated by his ENORMOUS ego) is that he's eloquently able to start off intelligent debates and get people to listen too them. It's his charisma, humour, flippancy and big ego that enable him to do this and not really his arguments which are not always very well thought through.
However I still don't think this matters. I think people listen to him, not because he has the answers but the fact he's able to get people to think "hey maybe there is another way' .
